A migraine, a chronic neurological syndrome, is characterized by recurrent moderate to a severe headache often accompanied by altered bodily perception, nausea, and vomiting etc. Fluctuating between mild and acute pain, the unilateral and pulsating headache in a migraine lasts usually from 4 to 72 hours. Associated with varying ranges of symptoms like vomiting, nausea, photophobia, phono-phobia, the severity of pain sometimes escalates with the accelerating physical movements.

A migraine is triggered by a mixture of physiological and environmental factors and these factors vary as per the individuals. Stress, sleep disturbances, fasting, hormones, smoke, alcohol, aged cheeses, monosodium glutamate, caffeine and weather changes etc are known as migraine triggers.

The symptoms of a migraine can be classified into four main categories namely The Prodrome, the Aura, the Pain and the Postdrome. For diagnosing migraine, several tests are conducted and almost all the diagnostic tests heavily rely upon the signs and symptoms associated with it.

A migraine has multifactorial causes and therefore not the same method of treatment can be applied to every migraine patient. Homeopathy follows the individualistic approach to treat the patients suffering from it. As per the severity of a migraine, the patients are treated with homeopathic medicines through three broad mechanisms namely Relieving Symptoms, Preventing Pain Attacks and Curing Migraine Completely. Homeopathy medicines not only ward off the problem of a migraine but also if taken under efficient professional are quite safe with no side effects at all.
