Prostate Enlargement

Prostate enlargement is called as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BEP) and Benign Enlargement of Prostate (BEP). This is also known as adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia. This is commonly found in the elderly and middle-aged men. This disease as the name suggests is the enlargement of the prostate.

This is noncancerous in which the normal elements found in the prostate gland start to grow in more number as well as in size. When the prostate increases in its size, it results in the pressing of the urethra. This can create urination problems in some men. This can also lead to the symptoms including frequent urination, urinary hesitancy and more.The important case of prostate enlargement is the increase in the number of cells.

The exact reason for the disease is still unknown. But there are factors including estrogens, androgens, cell signaling pathways and growth factors that are said as the causes of this disease.
