Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome that is characterized by widespread chronic musculoskeletal pain that is accompanied by exhaustion, disturbance of sleep and painful tender points in certain parts of the body.  Some of the patients also feel difficulty in swallowing, bladder and bowel abnormalities and cognitive dysfunction etc.

The precise cause of fibromyalgia is yet to be discovered but it is considered that the factors causing fibromyalgia include genetic, psychological, neurological and environmental factors. Women are more affected by fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia may affect also the men, children and the elderly people but the chances are rare. Many of the patients also exhibit the symptoms of headache, irritable bowel, temporomandibular disorder, depression, and anxiety etc.

Blood tests and X-rays can rule out the possibilities of other diseases but they cannot diagnose fibromyalgia. In fact, the diagnostic tests are not suitable enough to confirm the presence of fibromyalgia. The diagnosis of fibromyalgia is done on the basis of the history of the patients and the physical examination by the doctors.

Though there are different factors involved in catalyzing fibromyalgia; homeopathy treats it in such a way that not only the symptoms of the disease are relieved but also it controls and reverses the disease process through the constitutional medicines.
