Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis is also known as eczema, dermatitis or atopy. It is an inflammatory, chronically relapsing and non-contagious disease. It is a disease that usually starts in the early infancy. It is a very common and long-lasting skin disease and is considered to be a hereditary disease. In atopic dermatitis, the skin becomes extremely itchy and inflamed.

There appear redness, swelling, cracks, crust and scaling etc on the skin. The real cause of atopic dermatitis is still unknown. What is considered to be the cause of it is the combination of hereditary and environmental factors. Though, there appears no outright evidence; infection, hygiene factors, climate, food antigens, probiotics and aeroallergens etc are believed to contribute towards developing atopic dermatitis.

Psychological stress is not the direct and primary cause of atopic dermatitis but it can lead to exacerbation of the disease. When itching intensifies, it becomes difficult to resist scratching. Scratching sometimes causes skin thickening and darkening which then escalates the complications.

Atopic dermatitis is a type of eczema and homeopathic medications are very effective and atopic dermatitis can be treated quite successfully. The disease may not be fatal but it pushes the life out of gear if it is not treated timely
